Rise of the Rainbow
In Dropstuff's 'Rise of the Rainbow', through an AR headset, you are guided through personal stories and significant events such as the first Pride protests in the 1960s, the suffering and loss during the AIDS crisis, and the new voices of contemporary activists advocating for the rights of trans and intersex people worldwide. In small groups, you are accompanied by performers who themselves are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Using art forms such as dance, poetry, and music, social themes like freedom, desire, activism, and friendship are highlighted. The experience culminates in a shared finale, where past and present meet, challenging you to reflect on your own place and role in this story.
For this installation I worked on the part ‘verenigen’, about what it means to be united within the context of the queer community. An AR scene in which one physical dancer is combined with digital ones, and handdrawn animation.
